We Care for Patients of All Ages
Dental Checkups & Teeth Cleanings
Like the American Dental Association, our team recommends getting routine checkups and cleanings every six months, or twice a year. Our goal at these appointments is to spot and treat issues that are in their initial stages, like cavities and gum disease. That way, we can keep them from having a permanent impact on your smile. After we take X-rays and conduct a thorough examination, we’ll then clean and polish your teeth, removing all built-up plaque and tartar to help your smile shine and stay healthy.
Children’s Dentistry
At Bay Park Smiles, our team loves treating children and educating them on how they can care for their growing smiles. We offer several kid-friendly services, like dental sealants and fluoride treatments, and we do everything we can to help them build a positive relationship with our dental office. That way, they aren’t hesitant to come back!
Dental Sealants
If you or your child is at a higher risk of developing cavities, it could be due to the deep grooves and pits in your molars that are prone to trapping food debris and bacteria in the mouth. We can place dental sealants over the surface of the molars to act as a shield and make brushing easier. By preventing the build-up of plaque and food debris, a patient will enjoy a cavity-free smile.
Fluoride Treatment
Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral that’s found in certain fresh fruits and vegetables. Many people are familiar with it because it’s also added to local water sources to help prevent cavities in communities. Fluoride has been shown to strengthen the enamel, which is the outermost protective layer of the teeth. If we notice that you or your child isn’t receiving enough of this mineral, we may suggest supplementing your fluoride with a quick, painless treatment at your next cleaning.
Oral Cancer Screening
Oral cancer can be a deadly disease, especially if it’s not diagnosed in its earliest stages. Our team’s goal is to spot the warning signs before it can wreak havoc on your life by conducting bi-annual oral cancer screenings at each of your checkups. We’ll thoroughly examine your oral tissues, lips, and throat in search of any symptoms. If we do spot any abnormalities, we’ll refer you for additional testing from a specialist.
Nightguards for Teeth Grinding
Bruxism, also known as the nightly grinding and clenching of teeth, is a common issue that countless people face due to stress, anxiety, bite problems, and many more underlying causes. To keep it from causing additional oral health problems, like a broken or fractured tooth or TMJ dysfunction, we recommend protecting your jaw joints and teeth with a customized nightguard. All you have to do is put it in your mouth before you go to bed, and you’ll be able to rest easy knowing your smile is protected.
